China's Exports of Cashmere and Cashmere Products Increase 25.2 Percent on Year
China's exports of cashmere and products based on cashmere totaled US $552,700 in January-July 2010, an increase of 25.2 percent year on year, according to customs statistics.
Of which, exports of cashmere and dehaired cashmere registered 1.380 tons, worth of US $95,420, representing an increase of 69.1 percent and 78.6 percent, respectively, year on year; exports of cashmere products realized US $45,728, an increase of 17.8 percent year on year.
Looking at sub-categories, exports of cashmere yarn fetched 2.464 tons, worth of US $20,025, an increase of 74 percent and 56.7 percent, respectively; exports of cashmere scarf achieved US $34,850, an increase of 8.7 percent year on year; exports of cashmere sweater amounted to US $20,997, down 2.2 percent year on year.
Overall recovery of cashmere product exports rebounded to double-digit growth in January to July this year, but exports of dehaired and cashmere products fell by 29.8 percent and 38.3 percent, respectively, compared with 2008 exports, if taking into account the low export base in 2009. In other words, current boom of China's cashmere industry is still lower than normal level.
Overall trade situation is not optimistic with aggregate domestic and international factors in the second half, as cashmere industry will face greater pressure. Cashmere industry is expected to see some drop in the second half, but overall exports of cashmere industry may still be stable and show a positive trend, the industry is expected to increase by around 15 percent throughout the year.
