Interstoff Asia Essential opens from Oct 6 (Hong Kong)
Interstoff Asia Essential opens next week from 6 – 8 October 2010 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, coinciding with a special event, the 26th IAF World Apparel Convention. The collaboration will bring international attention to some 250 exhibitors from 12 countries and regions, showcasing their fashion, functional and eco fabrics and textile related accessories in halls 1C, D and E.
For easy on-site navigation, suppliers will be divided into country and region pavilions including Elite China, Fine Japan, Excellent Korea and Amazing Taiwan as well as eco certified pavilions plus special areas such as an accessories zone and a designer studio.
In addition to showcasing a range of products including cotton, knitted material, man-made, functional and eco fabrics, for one day only, a multi-designer sustainable fashion show called EcoChic Asia by Hong Kong registered charity, Green2Greener will feature both ready-to-wear and eco couture made by some 30 international designers, on Wednesday, 6 October at 12:30 p.m.
Attendees will also be given the exclusive opportunity to preview a series of collections designed by students from the Caritas Bianchi College of Career interpreting autumn/winter 2011-12 trends using exhibitors’ fabrics.

26th IAF World Apparel Convention coincides with fair
Placing the convention alongside Asia’s most well known industry trade fair also attracted strong industry support from new IAF members, China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Textiles (CCCT). This illustrates the pivotal role Hong Kong continues to play in bridging China to the rest of the fashion industry as well as the relevancy of Asia’s longest standing industry trade fair – Interstoff Asia Essential.
Aside from major Chinese industry support, government officials from Hong Kong as well as top level international executives will commence the opening ceremony on 6 October 2010. These include:
• Mr Vassilis Masselos, President for the International Apparel Federation
• Ms Rita Lau Ng Wai-lan, JP, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, HKSAR
• Mr Wang Shenyang, Chairman of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Textiles
• Mr Willy Lin, Chairman for the Textile Council Hong Kong
• Mr Detlef Braun, Member of the Board of Management for Messe Frankfurt GmbH
• Mr Leung Wai Ping, Executive Director for Li & Fung (Trading) Ltd
In addition to these speakers, a keynote address will be given by Mr John Cheh, Vice Chairman and CEO for Esquel Group Limited as well as some 30 seminars hosted by a variety of professionals from a range of industry backgrounds.
