Shanghai Nov. Apparel Retail Sales Report
Shanghai Nov. - According to Shanghai Apparel Association, retail sales of apparel products in Shanghai top 10 department stores fell by 24.1% year-on-year in Nov. to CNY440 million. Economists hope that the shoppers' spending is beginning to increase after the holiday season.
Cashmere & wool knitwear retail sales up
Looking further, Nov. sales of women's apparel products decreased 11.1% y/y to CNY150 million; men��s apparel products sales reached CNY 100 million. Reports from the market suggest that retail sales of cashmere & wool knitwear during November lifted to their high level as November is generally the peak Autumn/Winter clothing sales period. Sales of cashmere & wool knitwear soared 14.7% y/y to CNY77.072 million.
By the end of Nov. 2010, accumulated retail sales volume of apparel products in Shanghai top 10 department stores fell by 3.4% year-on-year to 12.135 pieces (sets) where accumulated retail sales vaule soared 9.8% year-on-year to CNY4.69 billion. Average price soared 13.7% y/y to CNY386.5/piece (set).
