U.S. Weekly Cotton Export Sales Up Noticeably
According to USDA's latest weekly cotton summary, during the week ending Mar 17, net Upland sales of 331,100 RB were up noticeably from the previous week and from the prior 4-week average. Increases reported for Vietnam (150,200 RB), China (116,700 RB), and Bangladesh (44,300 RB), were partially offset by decreases for Ecuador (5,300 RB), Turkey (4,700 RB), Indonesia (2,500 RB), and Japan (1,700 RB). Net sales of 213,800 RB for delivery in 2011/12 were mainly for China (42,500 RB), Turkey (41,700 RB), Bangladesh (28,600 RB), and Mexico (25,400 RB).
Exports for own account were reported for Malaysia (5,800 RB). Exports of 400,000 RB were up 28 percent from the previous week, but down 4 percent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were China (106,200 RB), Turkey (70,300 RB), Indonesia (36,400 RB), Mexico (27,900 RB), Thailand (22,700 RB), and Brazil (20,100 RB).
Net American Pima sales of 2,900 RB were down 44 percent from the previous week and 52 percent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Bangladesh (800 RB), Japan (500 RB), Italy (400 RB), and Pakistan (400 RB). Net sales of 14,400 RB for delivery in 2011/12 were mainly for China (7,400 RB), Peru (4,400 RB), and Thailand (2,000 RB). Exports of 15,200 RB were primarily to China (5,300 RB), India (3,200 RB), Pakistan (2,100 RB), and Indonesia (1,200 RB).
