Minister mulls China as alternative for petrochemical project
In a twist to the controversial Kuokuang Petrochemical complex, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) will mull lifting restrictions in China by Taiwan’s cracking sector.
Shih Yen-shiang, Minister of MOEA said this after the President announced withdrawal of support for the ethylene project.
But, investors must ship back the materials produced in China back to Taiwan said the Minister.
However, the restrictions will be lifted only once there is clarity on the petrochemical project, added the minister.
