Taiwan Formosa to keep No. 1 naphtha unit shut until H2 June
Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp will keep its No. 1 naphtha cracker shut until second-half of June following a fire last week at a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipe, traders said on Wednesday.
Traders said more than 200,000 tonnes of naphtha demand would be affected because of the month-long shutdown of the 700,000 tonnes-per-year (tpy) cracker and possible reductions to be made to two of its other naphtha crackers which have a total capacity of 2.23 million tpy.
Formosa's spokesman was not available for comment as he was on a business trip.
