Recycled polyester bashes bugs
QUEBEC–Recycled polyester from the Victor Group combined with third-party certified Agion anti-microbial technology features in a new line of upholstery fabrics for the healthcare sector to provide fabric protection against damage by bacteria, mould, mildew and funghi. The so-called‘Eco Intelligent’post-consumer recycled polyester from the Victor Group have been combined with Agion silver into a new‘Josephine Collection’from Designtex an environmentally conscious provider of innovative textiles, wallcoverings and surface solutions, which it says“demonstrates a new way to view healthcare privacy and upholstery textiles.”
Agion has been incorporated with the recycled polyester into three of the cubicle fabric patterns for healthcare end-uses. Included within this collection are fabrics made with both FR polyester and post-consumer recycled polyester. Agion is a patented, micron-sized broad-spectrum antimicrobial technology based on silver and copper. Instead of being applied to textiles as a topical treatment, it is extruded into the textile fibre itself and has been certified to bluesign and Cradle to Cradle standards.
Eco Intelligent post-consumer recycled polyester from the US-based Victor Group is created from 100% recycled plastic PET bottles.
“The resulting products, as well as the processes used to manufacture them, reduce environmental impact by diverting waste from landfills, lowering air emissions, and decreasing oil consumption,”said the company.
