The Textiles Import Volume Dropped and the Price Increased in Nantong in the First Half Year

According to the Nantong Procuratorial and Quarantine Bureau, from Jan to June, Nantong imported textiles 683,200 meters, valuing 4,208,500 USD, the import volume dropped 14.42% year on year, and the import value increased 21.12% year on year.

In the first half year, the textiles types Nantong imported were printed cotton fabric, dyed cotton fabric, chemical fiber and blended fabric, the goods mainly from Japan, India, Mauritius, Thailand, and South Korean and so on. The specialists said that foreign traders transferred the textiles orders to the Southeast Asia countries which have obvious comparative advantages, leading the low apparels export in Nantong, and textiles import volume dropped. And the high international cotton price led to the textiles import value increase.
