Leading brands to present their new collections at Yarnex 2011
The 3rd Edition of Yarnex - India International Yarn Exhibition opens September 9, 2011 for three days at the India Knit Fair Complex, Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, to once again, give attendees the ultimate one-stop business platform for all of their sourcing needs. The event is being sponsored by Invista, well-known the world over for its fibers and yarn under the brand name Lycra.
Over 50 suppliers have confirmed to showcase their collections of yarns and fibres ranging from natural fibres made from cotton, wool silk and linen/ramie to regenerated and synthetic man-made fibres and yarns as well as fancy blended yarns. Countries and regions represented include India, China, Hong Kong, and Pakistan.
Ever since its inception in 2009, Yarnex has gained popularity amongst industry professionals throughout the region and continues to attract leading national and international exhibitors & visitors.
“Within such a short span of two years, Yarnex has become a well established and must visit event in south India,” said Mr P. Krishnamurthy, CEO, S S Textile Media Private Ltd., organizers of the show. “This is why exhibitors are keen to return as participants in the show year after year.”
While the economy as a whole seems to be on an upward trajectory, the yarn industry at the moment is in dire straits. All this due to a series of factors like crash in yarn prices, drastic demand erosion in the domestic and international markets, withdrawal of export incentives, restrictions on exports, imposition of excise duty on branded garments, etc.
“Trade shows provide strong marketing values unavailable from other marketing mediums, such as the ability to get face-to-face with high-level buyers than sales calls,” said Mr Krishnamurthy. “It is in times such as these that the yarn manufacturer can reach out to the market with their new developments, new varieties, which the buyers are eagerly on the lookout for.”
“The show gives manufacturers an opportunity to promote their products to the buyers from India & overseas, as well as reinforce relationships built over the years,” said Mr Krishnamurthy.
“The show is expected to attract quality visitors from all over India as well as overseas as we have seen in earlier editions from countries as diverse as Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Turkey, Iran, Singapore, Thailand, USA, UK, France, Hong Kong…. After all, India is one of the biggest yarn exporters in the world having a global yarn export market share of around 17 percent.
India mainly exports to China, Korea, Bangladesh, Egypt, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Turkey, Japan, Israel, the European Union and Mauritius. All the visitors, as we have seen in previous years, are top decision makers like chairmen, managing directors, directors, CEOs, general managers, purchase managers, merchandisers and the like…”
Another highlight of this edition is the participation of buyer delegations from Bangladesh and Sri Lanka who will be in attendance on the days of the show.

New exhibitors keen to meet with potential buyers too will be participating in this edition in larger numbers. The highly successful Business Networking Forum (BNF) will be replicated this year too, affirmed Mr Krishnamurthy. The last edition attracted around 240 participants from buying houses, apparel exporters, apparel brands, spinners, weavers, knitters, agents / distributors who participated through the deliberations with apt attention. BNF will once again be a launching pad for innovations as well as a round table to discuss issues that are the need of the hour for the Indian textile supply chain.
