AAFA releases ninth RSL
This latest edition has been updated to reflect changes prompted by the CPSIA, as well as new state and international regulations, and will be highlighted at AAFA’s upcoming International Product Safety and Restricted Substances Conference in Dhaka, Bangladesh on November 30, 2011, and in Bangalore, India on December 6, 2011.
“Consumers are more aware than ever when it comes to purchasing safe and eco-friendly products,” said AAFA President and CEO Kevin M. Burke. “The AAFA Restricted Substances List helps the industry navigate often complex product safety and chemical management requirements in order to address consumer preferences in the market place.”
“AAFA will be taking our international restricted substances list educational program to Bangladesh and India this fall to continue our efforts to educate the entire apparel and footwear supply chain about these important issues,” said Burke. “These international conferences help the industry in creating a safer and more sustainable supply chain.”
AAFA was the first organization to publish a textile, apparel and footwear industry-wide RSL and now updates the chemicals and other substances whose presence in a product is restricted through a government regulation or law. every six months.
The list, which has become the global industry standard for RSLs, together with a growing set of other chemical management tools, can be downloaded for free at the AAFA Web site.
