Hong Kong luxury apparel retailer to expand in China
Hong Kong-based luxury apparel retailer The Swank is planning to expand in China’s Tier II and III cities to benefit from the booming luxury market there.
Established 57 years ago, The Swank opened its first flagship store in mainland China in Beijing in 2009.
The multi-brand fashion retailer now plans to open its outlets in Xian and Hangzhou this year and will continue to launch additional stores in China during the next few years.
Sales at The Swank’s Beijing outlet have grown by 25 percent every year since the launch of the store in 2009, according to Tony Lam, General Manager at The Swank.
He said the company expects to post similar growth figures at its upcoming stores in the mainland.
The Swank is wholly owned by ENM Group. In addition to the Beijing store, the Group currently operates four The Swank showrooms in Hong Kong and another nine monobrand outlets including Roberto Cavalli, Brioni, Just Cavalli, Sonia Rykiel, Brunello Cucinelli and Paule Ka.
