Chinese textile and apparel industry irreversibly to see slowdown in growth
China's clothing production of above-scale enterprises first showed negative growth from the second quarter of 2011.
The main reasons are 1) cotton price has been in volatility, downstream sector holds a typical mentality of "buying in rising market, not buying in falling market", as they expect uncertainty on the market; 2) enterprises face constraint of business funding, labor cost is rising; 3) terminal demand declines.
Structural adjustment and industrial upgrading in the textile industry continues in 2012. The textile and garment industry changes from "capacity expansion" to "value growth", from "dependent on exports” to “ dependent both on domestic and international markets”.

Home textile enterprises, medium and high-end men's enterprises are expected to achieve deterministic growth in 2012, as they are less affected by the economic slowdown.
