Textile Exports Increase Moderately in 1st Quarter (China)
Figures from the General Administration of the Customs show that in the first quarter of this year, China´s total foreign trade amounted to US$859.37 billion, up 7.3% year-on-year, with a trade surplus of US$670 million. The export amounted to US$430.02 billion, up 7.6%; import amounted to US$429.35 billion, up 6.9%. Among the exported commodities in the first quarter, the export of garment amounted to US$29.57 billion, up 3.8%; export of textiles amounted to US$20.44 billion, up 1.4%, showing a recovery from the declining in the first two months. In January-February period, China´s garment export stood at US$19.29 billion, down 2.5% and export of textiles US$11.94 billion, down 2.6%.
