DGFT speeds up process of cotton exports (India)
The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Indian Ministry of Commerce has modified the process of obtaining reiteration certificates (RCs) for exports of cotton, which will help speed up the whole process.
Instead of applying for the RCs in person, DGFT has permitted cotton exporters to send all relevant documents through email. Queries if any will be raised at the time of submission of hard copies of documents.
It is expected that the procedure to grant RCs will now take only a couple of days instead of several weeks earlier.
Meanwhile, through another notification issued on May 4, DGFT said that a cotton exporter would be issued a second RC, subject to the condition that, 50 percent of the volume of cotton under the first RC has been exported.
