Chongqing Garment Industry Output Value Tops CNY22 Billion in 2011 (China)

It is reported from the Symposium on the Development of Chongqing Garment Industry, the output value of this industry has increased CNY17.7 billion since it became a municipality under direct administration of the Central Government 15 years ago. In the coming years, Chongqing will improve the quality and further expand the scale of the industry, set up financing platform for garment enterprises and turn Chongqing into a main garment production center in China.

According to Zhang Xuan, deputy director of the municipal party committee, the garment industry in Chongqing has kept steady growth over the past years, the gross output of the industry has increased to CNY22 billion in 2011 from the CNY4.3 billion 15 years ago and the total employment has surpassed 200,000 persons. The industry has been expanding year by year, the designing skill and manufacturing level have stepped up to a higher level and some local brands have won increasing recognition on market.
