Armani Privé collection pays tribute to China (China)
For the ‘One Night Only in Beijing’ fashion show, a selection of new couture looks were introduced to the Armani Privé collectio and designed exclusively for the occasion as a tribute to China.
For the creation of these looks Giorgio Armani drew inspiration from Chinese mythology, which has always astonished and enchanted the Western world. In particular he focused on the dragon, a legendary animal and an auspicious symbol.
He has done so subtly, with small touches and allusions: a hint of a colour here, the texture of embroidery there. The result is a collection of true masterpieces of style and craftsmanship, in which delicate ruffles and flounces that are skilfully tailored create an impeccable silhouette.
Long evening dresses, some with understated tails and fitted bodices, are modelled on the bust like sculptures. Playful, soft overlays in embroidered georgette and tulle create a spirited lightness, while some styles feature decorative ostrich feathers.
Tonal Swarovski crystals cover a black skirt, and bodices are encrusted with three-dimensional stones. The organza tunic, which falls from the shoulders, accentuates the impression of movement, while the dress with a veil studded with Swarovski beads possesses a mysterious allure and fluidity.
The pinnacle of the fashion show was a sinuous black lacquered dress around which spectacular three-dimensional embroidery of a dragon wraps itself, from whose jaws spout not flames, but the lightest of feathers.
