Asian Methanol market shows mixed trend (Global)
Methanol prices showed mixed trend in Asia in the last week. Ample availability and a dull buying mood pushed spot prices of Methanol in Asia lower last week.
Prices fell in China as downstream buying trends turned sluggish. CFR China prices of Methanol were assessed down at US$ 355-360/ton levels. In the domestic markets of China, prices were assessed at RMB 2730/ton.
Bearish cues from China put pressure on prices of Methanol in other parts of Asia. CFR Korea and CFR Japan prices of Methanol remained unchanged at US$ 355-360/ton. CFR India prices were assessed down at US$ 315-320/ton levels.
Methanol prices were steady in Europe and US last week on the back of subdued buying sentiments in the region. Hints of lower prices from Asia also supported the price phenomenon in European and US markets.
Spot prices of Methanol in Europe were assessed at US$ 285-290/ton FOB Rotterdam levels and in US prices were in the range of US$ 105-110 (cents/gallon) FOB US.
