TAITRA aims to expand Taiwan's textile trade with EU
Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is organizing a trade exhibition to help Taiwan’s textile sector, among others, to increase its exports to the European Union.
Taiwan’s textile exports to the EU have dropped in recent months, due to increased competition from South Korea following the implementation of the EU-South Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in July 2011.
TAITRA said it has invited nearly 80 buyers and few sellers from the 27-nation EU to meet with representatives of Taiwanese companies at the expo, to be held on October 24 at the Taipei International Convention Centre.
At present, the EU is the fourth biggest trading partner of Taiwan, after China, the US and Japan.
Last year, the EU accounted for about nine percent of Taiwan’s total exports, according to TAITRA.
