Benzene trends stable in Asia last week, up in US & Europe
Benzene market was stable in Asia, whereas it showed upward trend in Europe and US in the week ending December 15.
In Korea, Benzene prices remained steady due to dull buying sentiment in the downstream market. In the early days of the previous week, prices were at US$ 1455/ton higher by US$ 25/ton, as compared to the same period of the previous week. Benzene prices were assessed in the range of US$ 1450-1460/ton FOB Korea.
In Japan, Benzene prices showed similar trend as Korea. Speculators assessed the spot prices of Benzene in the range of US$ 1455-1465/ton CFR Japan.
In India, Benzene prices showed similar trend as in Korea and Japan. Initially, prices were at US$ 1465/ton higher by US$ 25/ton, as compared to the same period of the previous week. Based on the market condition, Benzene prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1460-1470/ton CFR India.
Benzene prices went up in Europe due to higher upstream and downstream product prices. In the initial days of last week, prices were at US$ 1460/ton higher by US$ 40/ton, as compared to the same period of the previous week. Prices were spotted in the range of US$ 1460-1500/ton FOB Rotterdam. Initial contract prices for December were settled at US$ 1408/ton FOB NWE.
In US, Benzene market showed similar trend as Europe due to higher downstream product prices. Prices were assessed in the range of 505-525 (cents/gallon) FOB US. Initial contract prices for December were settled at 493 (cents/gallon) (US$ 1476/ton) FOB US.
