ASEAN becomes main strength to boost China's textiles & apparel export growth
According to Chinese customs statistics, China’s total volume of textile and apparel trade in 2012 reached US $279.44 billion, an increase of 3.1 percent year on year, of which, exports fetched US $ 254.98 billion, an increase of 2.8 percent year on year, imports scored US $24.46 billion, an increase of 6.2 percent year on year, cumulative trade surplus registered US $230.52 billion, an increase of 2.5 percent year on year.
Textile and garment import and export of general trade increased its proportion to 72 percent in total textile and garment trade, of which exports accounted for 75 percent, imports accounted for 41.4 percent. The proportions of trade volume, exports and imports expanded by 27 percentage points, 12.5 percentage points and 35 percentage points, respectively, compared with 2002.
Looking at commodity exports, among textiles, export volumes of yarn and fabrics increased by 7.6 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively, among them, cotton yarn increased by 13.9 percent, cotton fabrics increased by 2.9 percent. But export prices of cotton yarn and cotton fabrics fell 15.1 percent and 7.1 percent, respectively.
