China's textile and apparel trade surplus doubled after 10 years of China's accession to the WTO. China's textile and clothing trade surplus was 1.64 times of the country's trade surplus in the first nine months of 2011.
China Textile Industry Association reports that in the past ten years, practitioners of China's textile industry increased from about 13 million in 2000 to about 22 million in 2010, of which 80 percent were farmers, meanwhile it also stimulated employment of the tertiary industry.
President of China Textile Industry Association Du YU Zhou stresses that China's textile industry has played a significant role in meeting the needs of expanding domestic demand and improving livelihood of Chinese people. During the 10 years, domestic sales share of large-scale textile enterprises rose from about 67 percent in 2000 to about 82 percent in 2010. Comparable price of domestic output grew 5.64 times. In the past ten years, national consumer price index rose by 25.53 percent, while clothing consumer price index fell by 9.21 percent.
According to report, China's textile and apparel exports in 2010 increased by three times compared with 2000,average annual increase was approximately 15 percent, China's global share of total textiles and clothing trade in the world increased from 15 percent in 2000 to more than one-third in 2010.
The official from China Textile Industry Association says that China's textile industry will adhere to independent innovation, expand domestic demand and thrive market, as its starting point, in accordance to the requirements of the "Twelfth Five-Year" Development Plan.
