Toray creates atmospheric dyeable polyester yarn

Toray Industries has released a new type of atmospheric dyeable polyester filament yarn, Polyloft NP, with applications for automotive interiors and home furnishings.

The new yarn can be dyed by disperse dyes at atmospheric temperatures below 100°C. And it has been modified at molecular level, according to which dyestuff can be easily penetrated in the yarn.

Because of its atmospheric dyeable nature, the company said energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 25% and can be dyed with thermally weak materials such as wool, silk and polyurethane yarn. In addition, Toray added that good colorfastness is achievable.
