Karl Mayer Introduces TM4 T Terry Machine
Germany-based Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH has added a new model to its TM series of four-bar tricot machines. The TM4 T produces terry fabrics made using man-made fiber filament yarn such as matrix yarn. The fabrics are used to make wiping cloths, washcloths, hand towels, flannels, bathrobes and semi-technical textiles.
The TM series — whose first model, the TM 3, debuted at ITMA 2007 in Munich, Germany, followed a year later by the TM 2 — features fixed widths, gauges and equipment options. Like the other machines in the series, the TM4 T features modern drive technology and a new machine concept with all main elements optimized for efficient production. It also features a much higher operating speed than Karl Mayer's HKS 4 F terry machine; and a 186-inch working width, compared with a normal working width of 136 inches. The extended width necessitated a revamping of the area around the brushing unit, which has an integrated batching facility, but the company reports the machine's price-performance ratio remains very competitive.
