ITMA Asia hosts successful road show in Ahmedabad
A road show was recently in Ahmedabad to promote the textile machinery show ‘ITMA Asia + CITME 2012’ to be held in Shanghai – China from June 12 to 16, 2012.
The show was attended by around 100 delegates made up from the whole textile value-chain, like spinning, weaving, fabric processing and textile machinery producers, etc.
In attendance was the Director of China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA) – Mr Zhao Xiaogang, which is also the co-host of the event. Also present was the Indian representative of the event – Mr Sooraj Dhawan.
The ITMA Asia + CITME 2012 road show will be held in 12 various Indian towns and cities and even in smaller clusters like Sholapur, Bhilwara and Ichalkaranji.
The show began with introduction of those sitting on the dais, which included Mr Zhao, Mr Dhawan, Ms Lori Liu from China Exhibition International Centre and chief guests – Mr Naresh Mistry and Mr Prashant representing Indian Textile Accessories & Manufacturers Association (ITAMA).
Mr Zhao while addressing delegates invited all of them to Shanghai for the show. He said it has become one of the largest textile machinery shows in Asia and expects the 2012 show to become the biggest worldwide.
He advised all the Indian textile machinery producers to attend the event in particular, as many Chinese textile machinery manufacturers were looking forward to set up shop in India, and so were looking for potential Indian partners.
Next was a presentation from Mr Dhawan. He said, “The Asian edition of ITMA was conceptualized mainly to provide a low-cost destination to visitors. The 2012 event will be hosted on around 130,000 sq. meters of space.
“It will have around 1,400 machinery exhibitors, up from 1,300 in 2010, with number of visitors expected to cross 100,000. India sends the largest contingent of visitors among all countries to the ITMA shows, which was clearly visible even at ITMA in Barcelona.
“By segment, spinning machinery commands the highest space at ITMA Asia with 30.37 percent, dyeing and finishing at 20.96 percent, knitting at 18.34 percent, weaving with 16.60 percent, followed by other segments like nonwovens, embroidery, winding, etc”, he concluded by saying.
